Why Bulgaria

Stara Planina

You could be looking at the Bulgarian Country Property websites for many different reasons: investing, retiring, looking for somewhere to live and work with a family, looking to buy your first home or a holiday retreat.

Bulgaria is still relatively good value for foreign investors. We hate to use the word 'cheap', but it is.

Property and land is still available at good prices compared to the rest of Europe.

The cost of living is very low despite Bulgaria joining the European Union in 2007. The currency is still the Bulgarian Lev. The European Union will also be offering much- needed development and infrastructure funds.

The Financial Times has good articles on the economic and political climate. Bulgarian banks are still offering loans and have not yet experienced the scary 'credit crunch' in the west. Bulgaria offers sunny and hot summers and ski-ing in the winter.

You can eat mouth-watering fresh food will an intriguing fusion of Eastern European, Greek and Turkish influences. It is a wine-growing country as well as being the origin of yoghurt. It is a relatively crime-free country and is a great environment for children.

Please read our buying guide – we've done our best to think of all the pros and cons. Come and visit before you buy. There are many lovely properties and places so there is plenty to chose from.

We also recommend read Jonathan White's 'Buying a Property in Bulgaria' from Amazon or www.howtobooks.co.uk.
