About Us

We are a Bulgarian and English couple who have been working in Bulgaria for over 3 years now, based in the village of Kipilovo, between the towns of Sliven and Kotel. Stefan's family are from here and still live in the village. They have a small-holding like most villagers here with a donkey, mule, goats and chickens. We have been selling and renovating country houses and we have a passion for the older, traditional wooden and stone houses and barns waiting for some attention and TLC.

We're surrounded by rolling hills, meadows and forests which are waiting to be explored. The village is still has a very traditional farming lifestyle – hard work for the villagers and a world that has disappeared perhaps a hundred years ago in western Europe.

But you can find fresh food, local wine and rakiya (a kind of brandy, rather like Italian grappa) and there are so many things you can do – hiking, cycling (there is not much traffic but avoid the speeding Ladas and horse and carts), horse-riding and fishing.

Local people are friendly and welcoming. There is a local kindergarten in the summer and it is the perfect safe haven for children. Things are changing since we've been living here as the village will soon have the internet via the latest fibre optic cables. So you can also work easily here if you chose.

We are developing a hamlet nearby into a holiday retreat and we plan to host events inviting artists, writers and film-makers from Bulgaria and abroad to meet together. Look out for our courses in astronomy, writing and Bulgarian lessons when it is finished.
